Sometimes the most ordinary things could be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people.
Tualatin Valley Academy Handbells is a group of nine 7th and 8th grade students. None of them had played handbells prior to joining the choir, and they are learning and growing together. Their focus is not only on learning to play music, but also on developing team building skills and plain old having fun!
Michael Blackburn, Director
As a founding member of the Ring of Fire handbell choir, Michael learned a lot about playing handbells with passion and precision, all from memory. He plans to share that knowledge with the next generation of musicians at Tualatin Valley Academy, but he is asking them to take their skills in a new direction. He imagines TVA Bells being innovative and exciting; utilizing new performance platforms and non-traditional music.
